Sylvia is the managing partner of Momentum Risk Management, a full service boutique insurance risk management firm located in Bryant Park in New York City, NY.
With over 20 years of results oriented experience in the insurance industry, Sylvia began her insurance career at Zurich Insurance Company while in college at the national treasure and historically black university, Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland where she studied Speech Communication with a concentration in Rhetoric and Public Address.
Sylvia has worked for the largest and most prominent insurance brokerages in the country in several key roles as advisor, senior advisor, practice division manager, Vice President and practice leader. She is a trusted client advocate and a risk and wealth management specialist to some of the most successful families in the United States.
Sylvia is a member of NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television), CUP (Council of Urban Professionals) and NAFE (National Association of Female Executives).
For five years, Sylvia was a producer and co-host on Sirius XM Urban View’s top rated evening drive show , she also later became the host and Executive Producer of her own wildly popular weekend show on the Urban View Channel platform entitled NeXt Nation; which has now grown into it’s own podcast that can be found on all major platforms like Apple, Spotify, Google, Spreaker and IHeart.
Sylvia is the only child of James and Shirley and she is married to James A. Alston and together they have 2 beautiful children- Noah and Ava.

Next Nation broaches topics across subject matter that utilize my intersectional professional experience and leverages the minds of thought leaders in business, mental health and wellness, entertainment, risk management, finance, family, travel and pop culture. The goal is to always improve the way the listener sees themselves and encourage an amalgam of new aspirations, motivations, needs and wants. We provide tremendous value to our listeners lives.
METHOD
We address all of our topics through fine-tuned social discussions in a fun, informative and qualitative way that encourages and improves the listenership’s career objectives, activities and attitudes and foster new interests, ideas and values. We encourage our listenership through dialogue to begin to create more opportunities for themselves that hopefully allow them to cast wider nets in their personal, social and professional lives.
NEXT NATION isn’t a breaking news or a political show; rather a concept show for people generally in the accumulation phase of their careers (25-55) with a penchant for imagining bigger. The show provides them with solutions, resources, and reference points that give them new methods that not only provide great content but allows our listener to curate a new reality.
RESULTS
Over six years as co-host, associate producer and contributor on Sirius XM Urban View Channel 126. I have seen the incredible benefit of transformed lives. I’ve expanded my business footprint overwhelmingly by creating my own Woman owned, black owned insurance brokerage in New York City that has a host of clients with range in sports, entertainment, business, finance and real estate. I’ve helped listeners uncover opportunity and this has been a true value to my listenership and clients. The show allows me to reach people all over the world and has been a wonderful resource for my career. I am lending my voice and expertise to wealth and legacy discussions, business leadership, entertainment, travel and lifestyle discussions for many people who haven’t yet tapped into the aforementioned.
