Sylvia is Vice President of Risk Strategies Company, the seventeenth largest national insurance brokerage in the United States. With nearly 20 years of results oriented experience in the insurance industry, Sylvia began her insurance career at Zurich Insurance Company while in college at the national treasure and historically black university, Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland where she studied Speech Communication with a concentration in Rhetoric and Public Address.

Sylvia has worked for the largest and most prominent insurance brokerages in the country in several key roles as advisor, senior advisor, division manager, Vice President and practice leader. She is a trusted client advocate and a risk and wealth management specialist to some of the most successful families in the United States.

Sylvia is a member of NYWIFT (New York Women in Film and Television), NAIFA (National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) and NAFE (National Association of Female Executives).

Sylvia is a producer and co-host on the Sirius XM Urban View for The Karen Hunter Show on Sirius XM channel 126 where she often gives insurance counsel and provides product knowledge and listener advice. Sylvia is also the new host and executive producer of her own show on the Urban View platform entitled NeXt Nation, heard weekly on Sundays at noon.

Sylvia is the only child of James and Shirley and she is married to James A. Alston and together they have 3 beautiful children, Quanasia, Noah and Ava.
